First Day Pictures!

Since I'm sick and have nothing else to do I'll post some pictures I took the first couple days that I never uploaded :)

These are pictures I took from the car when we were going into town. I thought the open fields were so pretty.

This is where my host sister Kaja does Gymnastics

If you can see the little tunnel, it leads from the Neu Bau to the Alt Bau, 2 different buildings. I thought this was pointless at first because you can just walk outside and go in through the front door but this tunnel is crucial in bad weather

I don't know what this graffiti represents but it is all over the school

The back of the school, with wittle Mirja in the picture :)
Tiny car

Where the mayor's office is. I saw in a book about the history of Detmold a picture of Hitler standing in front of this building with a row of Nazis and he was making a speech. Kind of interesting.

This is the sign of the region, Lippe, that I live in. I see it everywhere.

I forget what this is! I think it is an old castle.

A theater.

Mt Herman, an old statue that is meant to point towards France as a sign of defense

Ruhrtour

This past weekend I got to meet all the exchange students from district 1900!! It was in Hagen, about 2 hours away. I loved meeting everyone from all over the world and exchanging pins and business cards. Everyone became close so quickly and now I am so excited for Deutschlandtour! We went to a mining museum and Villa Hugel, a really pretty mansion. The next day we met our host families in a nearby town for an informational meeting and to present ourselves from our country by doing a performance. Our group pretended to play American football, dance to the cotton eyed joe, and say the pledge of allegiance. We all slept in the auditorium of a school but South Americans never sleep so neither did I and now I'm exhausted and sick. But completely worth the experience :)

Soccer Golf and The Family Fest

Golf but you use a soccer ball. So fun. I won ;). It was raining most of the time. The family fest was a little festival thing. The mayor took us on top of a building to get a good look. The grass is so green.

First Day of School

Today was my first day of school. Everyone was so nice! English was pretty easy, so was spanish, then I got to go home for a couple hours. Then I had art which was my favorite. I'm nervous for German history tomorrow though. Art was all in german but it's just art.. history is actually academic. Everyone is really helpful and people think California is so cool haha. My schedule is going to be really hard to remember but it just takes some getting used to.

Busssssy

I've been so busy lately! Today I went to a Rotary meeting, tried to get my residence pass, and played golf! I love how the dog Lotte comes with us wherever we go. She's so cute. I love walking her on a really nice long walk where there are other very friendly faces. Everyone asked if it's Lotte and they are confused who I am. Wow my writing sucks. I'm way too tired. Soon I'll go on my first rotary weekend and then a trip around Germany!! So excited. My counselor was too busy so I have a new counselor and it's the mayor. I had lunch with him yesterday and he is super nice. Not much english but really nice. He said I could go with him to visit twin cities in other countries for free! That sounds amazing. He also goes to a lot of events that I can go with him to. I''m skyping my friend. Shout out to Tori.
