Market

Today I went to the market in the center of the town with my host family. So many fruits, vegetables, meat, bread, flowers, nuts, everything. It is much bigger than the one we have every wednesday in Santa Cruz. It started raining. Gunna have to get used to that. I had pea soup which I guess is a traditional German meal and some fried potato dish. My buddy came over earlier and we talked for awhile. I'm getting really nervous about school starting.. people can be really mean sometimes so I hope  the germans are welcoming. I'm STILL jet lagged.

Just Arrived

I have finally arrived in Germany! I left Monday the 26th at 1pm and arrived the 27th at 1pm! Today it is thursday so I have had a little while to settle in. My host dad Willy picked me up from the airport along with 2 friends of Xenia's, one of them spent a year abroad as well in Canada. I met Steffi and my host sisters, Mirja and Kaja at the big red house that I am now living in! Mirja is 7 and Kaja is 13. So far my family has showed me all around Detmold including my school. Later that day we went to a zoo/park thing that they all had a membership to and we saw birds, kangaroos, bunnys, etc. I am still really tired from the jet lag so my time is a little off. Soon I will meet a rotary member along with my buddy Darlene and a teacher from my school. Right now I am missing one of my suitcases but I'm hoping it will come today.

The day before leaving!

Tomorrow I am leaving to go to Germany! I am surprisingly calm. I have almost finished packing and I have 2 huge suitcases, a carry-on (just for my shoes), and a bag. I am embarking on a flight to Detroit then Amsterdam then Frankfurt! It doesn't feel like it is really happening! I have thought about going on an exchange since I was a freshman in high school. I have already said goodbye to most of my friends and family except my mom, dad, Julia, Bill, and Ramona. Is this really happening? I am about to understand 0% of what anyone is saying. Oh well, here it goes.
